Market is flooded with android based tablet PC’s and there are many brands apart from major player like Apple, ASUS, Nexus and Samsung which cannot be ignored. You cannot go wrong of you choose to buy premium brands made tablet as all of them have excellent products, but good features come at a premium price. Coming to lower priced android tablet from smaller brands, if you don’t want to spend too much on tablet PC, they are quite a lot in numbers like Datawind, Huawei, Micromax, Lava, Ambrane and so on. There are so many of them that I cannot name all of them here.
So how will you choose a good tablet among lower priced models? First you should look for bare necessity and it will also help you filter out the major junk available in market you should avoid buying. Look for:
- 1 GB RAM (at least)
- OTG Support
- 3G support
Once you apply above criteria, you will be left with fewer models of tablets which are decent enough to buy. Now next criteria will depend on your usage. Ask yourself why you are buying this tablet and what is the main purpose? Here are few typical usage and corresponding feature you should look for:
Reading eBooks: Look for display with resolution at least 1024×600 (should be more that 800×600 which is the resolution mostly found in lower priced models)
Surfing internet: Must have 3G support, webcam and support Bluetooth devices like external keyboard. Good battery backup.
Watching movies and videos/showing demo/presentations: Brighter IPS display and good sound output. If you will be watching mostly ‘on the go’ then also look for bigger battery (mAH rating should be higher).
Video calls: Must have 3G support at least via external USB dongle. Needless to say, it should have a decent webcam too.
You might have to sacrifice some features somewhere but if you choose wisely, you will not regret with your purchase and solve the purpose of buying the tablet. Remember that different people have different needs, some people are over critic about display quality so they only settle for the best but others might not even notice the difference between LCD and IPS display!
